Logistics and Shipping

Logistics can be seen in various areas like military logistics medical logistics business logistics and production logistics Shipping and logistics do contribute to world’s economy to a great extent .The term Logistics is derived from the term ancient Greek word “logos”. Logistics is the execution of the flow of merchandise, information and other assets, including energy and people, between the point of source and the point of destination in order to meet the necessities of consumers. Logistics does involve incorporation of information, shipping, stock, warehousing, material-handling, and packaging. In logistics and transport sector Logistician is the profession and for this profession few of the qualifications are FCILT / CMILT / MILT /ESLog/CML/CPL/MHKLA/DLP/CTL and FHKLA. Some institutions and institutions do offer academic degree programs to logisticians at graduate and undergraduate level.

In Production logistics, the purpose behind it is that it will ensure that each machine and workstation is fed with the right product in the correct quantity and correct quality at exact point in time. The aim is not only transport but to simplify and manage the stream through value adding process and eradicate non -value adding ones.

In Business logistics logisticians do handle either inbound logistics or outbound logistics covering the flow and storage of materials from source to destination. The main functions of a skilled logistician are inventory administration, purchasing, transportation, warehousing, discussion and the organizing and preparation of these activities. Logisticians do have professional knowledge in this area so that there is a coordination of resources in an organization.

In Military Logistics, Logisticians mange how and when to move resource from one place to another place where they are required. Supply line is considered to be as crucial in Military as without resources every armed force almost unarmed.
